"This was not intended to be an album at first", says french producer Thierry Boyer AKA Robey about his debut album Valhalla, which was originally released in 2016. "I recorded all tracks in one month, working day and night just because I was enjoying it. It was a very introspective process. I was all alone, and hardly left home. It ended with an ethereal and instinctive bunch of tracks, a raw expression of my own feelings."
Robey is not unknown to Czech audience. He performed as a support for Baths at Festival Spectaculare in 2018. His sound oscillates somewhere between IDM, ambient and trance. He mixes these genres together and produces introspective landscapes of melancholic electronica.
"Just a few days before recording the first tracks, I found those old forgotten negatives in an abandoned house, photographs taken during a trip in Scotland many years ago. Those lost souvenirs and the eerie atmosphere in this old house were somehow the starting point of the creative process. While contemplating the old negatives, I saw majestic landscapes made of green fields and disturbing dark mountains. Valhalla comes to my mind".
